Easter (Tensaya)/2026
“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.” 1Co 15:21
The Feast of the Resurrection (Easter) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was celebrated with great splendor at Merafe’ Kidusan St. Rufael and Abune Echege Yohannes in Stoke-On-Trent.
Truly, Christ is risen from the dead!
Holy Thursday/2026
On this day, Jesus Christ gathered with His disciples to celebrate the Passover.
He humbled Himself and washed their feet, showing us the true meaning of love and service.
Today is also the day He instituted the Holy Communion and said to His disciples “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” John 6:53
May we remember His sacrifice and prepare our hearts for His Passion.

Hosanna/2026
“And the crowds that went before and those that followed cried out, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” Matthew 21:9 We celebrated the feast of Hosanna in the presence of the Holy Fathers, St. Raphael and St. John the Baptist (Stoke-on-Trent), with great pomp and circumstance, the venerable priests, Qesis Berhane, the head of the church of St. Uriel of Debre Tsige, Newcastle, Qesis David, the chief secretary of the church of St. Mary of Leeds, and our venerable father, Qesis Gebez, the great minister of the church of St. Mary of Leeds. Thanks be to God, who has blessed and helped us in the past, and who has given us good shepherds, thanks be to God!
The first preparation and consecration of the Holy Myron in which the Oriental Orthodox Churches participated was held in the Indian Orthodox Church!

St Mary & St John's Coptic Orthodox Church

On February 28, members of St. Rufael and Abune Echege Yohannes Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church had the blessing of visiting St. Mary and St. John’s Coptic Orthodox Church, where we attended the worship service together.
We are very thankful for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to us by the clergy and congregation. It was a joyful and meaningful time of fellowship, reminding us of the strong spiritual connection between our churches.
We look forward to continuing this friendship and working together in faith, unity, and service for the glory of God.
Meskel Celebration
On September 27, our church family gathered with great joy to celebrate the Feast of Meskel, the Finding of the True Cross. The day was filled with prayer, song, and the warmth of fellowship, as our congregation honored one of the most cherished traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
The celebration began with the Divine Liturgy, where the church was filled with the sound of ancient hymns and the fragrance of incense. Worshippers came dressed in their white shamma and traditional attire, bringing with them a spirit of reverence and thanksgiving.
